Product Name: WhatsApp Messenger
Version: 2.23.21.88
What’s New
With the latest update, here are some additions you can look forward to having:
- Multi-account support: Starting in June 2023, users are now able to sign in to more than one account on a single phone. This eliminates the need to provision an additional phone for an additional account, and you can have separate accounts for personal and business use. This update is in a bid to keep up with WhatsApp’s promise of making instant messaging convenient.
- Passkey support: Passkeys are a more secure way of ensuring the security of your account by bypassing the SMS- or email-based two-factor authentication (2FA) one-time passwords (OTPs) for on-device biometric authentication (e.g., fingerprint, face, or screen lock). This is faster and eliminates the risk of falling prey to scams.
- Advanced formatting options: With the introduction of code blocks, quote blocks, bulleted lists, and numbered lists, you can now format texts as you wish! This is aimed at improving the overall messaging experience.
- Additional features for voice notes: For voice notes, you can now set them to be viewed just once, adding the feature to the list of media (photos and videos) already in this pool. In addition, you can also look forward to sharing voice notes in Channels, adding diversity to the already accepted formats.
- Community Events: This allows Community administrators to schedule events for further interactions. This feature can be found by clicking on the attachment icon.
- Hide locked chats: Taking a step further from just locking chats, you can now hide them! This gives an extra layer of security to the chats you locked, as access can only be gained by entering a secret code.
- HD media quality: You can now improve the quality of your pictures and videos with a single click.
- Hide online presence: You can now hide your presence online by disabling the “Online” tag on WhatsApp. This feature helps you use the app without showing people that you’re online. You can activate this feature by following this guide: Settings => Account => Privacy => Last seen => Nobody.
- Silence calls from unknown contacts: Anyone who has your WhatsApp contact can call you, which can be annoying and risky. You can prevent this by having WhatsApp silence calls made from unknown numbers. Mind you, you can still see the numbers in your Calls tab.
- Screen sharing: Just like Zoom, Google Meet, etc., WhatsApp has joined other apps with the screen-sharing feature. You can now share your screen on a video call, either with one other person or in a group.
